About JAHS Library:

DHS Library houses a multitude of books, reference materials, magazines, newspapers, & videos. Online searching is available on thirty-one networked computers. We currently have access to high quality databases which include Encyclopedia Britannica Online, EBSCO, ABC-CLIO, World & I, Career Cruising and more. The library has a career center/leisure reading area. A scanner and printers are available for a fee.

Policies:

Library Passes
Students coming to the library during the day must have an "Official Library Pass." These passes have been emailed to all teachers and should be saved on the teachers' computers, so that they have instant access and can print at their convenience. We Do Not accept handwritten passes or teacher passes. If for some reason a teacher does not have access to a pass, the teacher must call the library (ext. 3600) and talk to an adult staff member before sending a student.

Book Check-Out
Students may check out 1 to 3 books (depending on grade level) at a time for 3 weeks. Each book may be renewed 1 time.

Fines
Students are charged for overdue books. Fines are .10 cents per day per book. Students with lost or damaged books will be charged a replacement fee and will not be allowed to check out other materials until their fines have been cleared.

Printing
Black and white computer printouts are .10 cents per page and color prints are .25 cents per page.

Copier
Black and white copies are .10 cents per page.

Internet Acceptable Use Policy
All students are required to comply to the IAUP as described in the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct Book.

Periodicals and Video Resources:

Magazine List 2012 - 2013
We currently subscribe to approximately 40 various titles. Some of these magazines are professional, but most are high interest reading. The magazines are housed in the Career Corner. Due to high demand, the magazines must remain in the library.

Videos
We currently house approximately 600+ videos. Most of these videos may be checked out by teachers only. Videos have "AV" in the call number. We have a section of career & college videos that may be checked out by students during the day and viewed in the library. A career & college video will have "CC" in the call number. Use Destiny Quest to search our catalog and contact Mrs. Drake to check out .

Newspapers
We subscribe to the Dallas Morning News. The current copy must remain in the library. However, we keep back issues that may be used outside the library.
